A few years ago, I decide I wanted to live a softer life. So far, I’ve stuck to it with a few hiccups. Now I’m back on track.
Transitioning from survival mode to a softer, more peaceful state of being can be challenging but rewarding and here are ways you can work towards becoming softer.
Cultivate Self-Compassion: Start by being gentle with yourself. Recognize the courage it took to endure tough times and give yourself the grace to heal and evolve. Engage in uplifting self-dialogue and pardon yourself for previous errors.
Therapy and Support: Consider reaching out for therapy or counseling. A professional can offer guidance and tools to navigate past traumas and establish healthier coping strategies. Support groups can provide a sense of community and empathy.
Acknowledge the Past Without Allowing It to Define You: Begin by recognizing the challenging periods you’ve overcome and the survival abilities you’ve acquired. But remember, your history doesn’t have to dictate your future. Softness begins when you permit yourself to grow beyond what has harmed you.
Embrace Vulnerability: Start sharing your thoughts and feelings with trustworthy individuals. Vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s a brave act of trust. Opening up to others is a key part of embracing your gentler side. Your social circle is crucial. Surround yourself with those who bring tranquility, foster growth, and support your journey. Release toxic relationships that keep you in survival mode.
Prioritize Rest: Survival mode conditions you to be constantly active, but gentleness flourishes in rest. Set boundaries, take breaks, and allow your mind and body to rejuvenate. Rest is indeed productive.
Learn to Say “No” Without Feeling Guilty: Survival mode often convinces you to please others to feel secure. Gentleness comes from respecting your boundaries and prioritizing your needs without guilt.
Rediscover Joy and Femininity: Engage in activities that bring you happiness and lightness. Whether it’s dancing, journaling, indulging in self-care, or wearing clothes that make you feel beautiful—embrace your softer, feminine side unapologetically.
Establish a Routine: Create a daily routine that includes time for relaxation and activities you enjoy. Structure can provide a sense of stability and control, which is often lost in survival mode. Tap into your femininity.
Physical Activity: Engage in regular physical activity, which is a great way to release stress and improve mood. Whether it’s yoga, walking, or dancing, find something that you enjoy.
Emotional Awareness: Work on becoming more aware of your emotions. Journaling can be a helpful tool for expressing your feelings and tracking your emotional progress.
