Here we are in October. The tenth month of the year. The “last quarter.” The season when people start shouting, “Only 90 days left to finish strong! Push harder! Time is running out!” And while some of that can be motivating, let’s be honest, it can also trigger anxiety, comparison, and a false sense of failure.
As the year starts wrapping up, a lot of us slip into panic mode. We start scrolling and measuring ourselves against everybody else’s highlight reel. We start thinking about the goals we didn’t hit, the resolutions we forgot, and the timelines we thought we’d be on by now. And suddenly, we start rushing, not because we’re ready, but because we’re afraid.
But this week’s Mindful Monday is simple: you are not late, you’re on your own time.
There is no medal for rushing your growth. There is no penalty for taking your time. There is no expiration date on purpose.
Yes, we’re nearing the end of the year. Yes, there are goals you still want to accomplish. And guess what? It’s not too late. But the key is this….you don’t have to sprint. You don’t have to catch up to people who were never running your race. You don’t have to rush yourself into burnout trying to prove you’re “still in the game.”
Move at a pace that’s healthy and sustainable for you.
Some people hit their breakthrough in March. Others in December. Some people bloom at 25. Others at 45. Some launch at the top of the year; others launch when the noise dies down and the timing finally feels aligned. That doesn’t make anyone ahead or behind, it just makes them on their own schedule.
Think about the year like this: Some seeds were planted in January and sprouted early. Others have been working underground, getting rooted, preparing to burst through the soil right at the end. But both are growing, both are valid, both have purpose.
Here’s what I want you to be mindful of:
- Don’t let the calendar bully you into panic.
- Don’t let comparison rob you of gratitude.
- Don’t let other people’s pace make you doubt your own.
You don’t need to rush your progress just to say you “finished before December.” You don’t need to force a launch, a move, a plan, or a decision out of fear that time is running out. Time is moving, but so are you. And movement doesn’t have to be loud to be real.
This week, be mindful of your rhythm. Be mindful of your peace. Be mindful of your pace. October is not a countdown to failure, it’s an invitation to refocus. Not to sprint in panic, but to continue in purpose.
Your timing is not late. Your timing is not wrong. Your timing is yours.
Finish the year intentional, not frantic. And remember this: Someone will look at you in December and think, “Wow, she really did that right on time.”
Because you will.
