The Energy Shift: “Sis, Have a Cocktail — February Remembrance Edition

Holding Space, Honoring Legacy

It’s Friday… and baby, this week turned me every which way but loose. I’m talking drained. Mentally, emotionally, calendar-overbooked drained. From working on new projects, trying to get my team aligned, back-to-back meetings, and preparing for my upcoming speaking engagement…lets just say I have been outside in the professional sense.

Now don’t get me wrong…there was some good in the mix. Progress was made, ideas were sparked, seeds were planted, but still… I am way overdue for a drinky drink. And tonight’s pour isn’t just about winding down, it’s about intention.

Sis, this month, we’re holding space, we’re celebrating life, legacy, and love.

For the entire month, I’m honored to collaborate around a very special wine: AMB BRAZI — The Legacy Continues. This isn’t just a bottle you open at the end of the week, this wine exists to honor Derrick Marks Jr., and every week this month you’ll see it featured in the Sis, Have a Cocktail series as we spotlight remembrance, reflection, and community.

This limited-edition wine was created by Chateau Bevvy Winery, a Black-owned brand making powerful moves and preparing to launch in Bessemer, Alabama.

Supporting intentional storytelling like this is exactly why community-centered brands matter.

Derrick Marks Jr. was an up-and-coming rap artist from Birmingham, Alabama. He was a young man with creativity, ambition, and momentum behind his name. His presence made an impact, and his voice contributed to a growing creative culture in the city. Derrick passed on February 25, and while that date carries weight, this collaboration reminds us that remembrance isn’t rooted in loss — it’s rooted in celebration.

Celebrating who he was.
Celebrating the dreams he carried.
Celebrating the legacy that continues through storytelling, music, and moments like this.

So tonight, winding down looks softer. It looks like turning the lights down low, putting the phone on silent, taking a breath, and pouring a glass not just to decompress, but to connect. To reflect on the week. To acknowledge growth. To hold gratitude and remembrance in the same moment.

Because sometimes self-care isn’t loud. Sometimes it’s quiet. Intentional. Present.

And as I take this sip, I want to invite you to do the same whether you’re pouring wine, tea, or water, take a moment for yourself.

Raise your glass with me:

“This glass is for legacy. For love. For remembrance.”
