Professionally, Personally & Romantically… This Year Tested Me

Perseverance Looks Better Than Perfection

If there’s one word that has defined my year, it’s perseverance.

Not because everything went according to plan. Actually…the complete opposite in certain areas.

This year has tested me professionally, personally, and romantically in ways I never imagined. I’ve had moments where I questioned my purpose, cried more than I wanted to admit, and wondered if all the work I was putting in would ever pay off. There were days when I wanted to quit. Days when I questioned people, opportunities, and even myself.

But every single time life tried to knock me down, I made a decision, and I kept going.

That’s what perseverance is.

Perseverance is the ability to keep moving forward despite difficulties. It isn’t pretending everything is okay or acting like life doesn’t hurt. It’s choosing to keep showing up even when you’re tired, disappointed, or healing.

To persevere means taking the next step even when you don’t have all the answers.

And that’s exactly what this season has looked like for me.

Professionally, I’ve continued building my brands, writing stories, launching new opportunities, and saying yes to rooms I once only dreamed about. Personally, I’ve been learning that healing isn’t a destination, it’s a daily decision.

Romantically? Let’s just say I’ve had to accept that not everyone who enters your life is meant to stay there.

That lesson wasn’t easy.

Healing from disappointment, betrayal, or unmet expectations can make you want to isolate yourself or stop believing in love altogether, but I’ve learned something powerful: healing and hurting can exist at the same time. You can still have moments of sadness while building the life you’ve always wanted.

I’ve realized that perseverance doesn’t mean ignoring your pain. It means refusing to let your pain become your identity.

Some mornings I wake up motivated. Other mornings I simply choose discipline over feelings and both do count.

The beautiful thing about perseverance is that it doesn’t require perfection. It only requires progress.

Three Ways to Persevere in Today’s Society

1. Give yourself permission to heal without pressing pause on your dreams.

Life doesn’t stop because your heart is broken or your plans didn’t work out. Heal, go to therapy if you need it, pray, journal, cry, but don’t abandon the vision you have for your life. Healing and growth can happen simultaneously.

2. Stop measuring your life against everyone else’s highlight reel.

Social media has a way of making it seem like everyone else is winning while you’re barely holding it together. Remember, you’re comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone else’s edited highlights. Stay focused on your own lane and celebrate your own progress.

3. Keep showing up, especially when nobody is clapping.

Success isn’t built on the days you’re motivated. It’s built on the days you show up anyway. Keep applying for the opportunity. Keep writing the book. Keep launching the business. Keep doing the work even when nobody sees it yet.

If this year has taught me anything, it’s this: perseverance isn’t glamorous. It’s quiet. It’s choosing yourself over and over again. It’s trusting that every setback is preparing you for something greater.

So if you’ve been feeling discouraged lately, let this be your reminder.

Take a deep breath.

Rest if you need to.

Heal if you need to.

But whatever you do…don’t quit.

Your story isn’t over yet.
