There are moments in life that remind you why you kept showing up, even when no one was watching.

Today is one of those moments.

I’m beyond excited to share that my latest newspaper feature has officially been published in The Birmingham Times. As an award-winning journalist, author, and educator, having the opportunity to tell meaningful stories for my community is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time.

If you’ve followed my journey over the years, you’ve watched me wear many hats..journalist, blogger, author, publicist, educator, but storytelling has always been at the center of everything I do. Whether it’s through my books, my blog, or now the newspaper, my goal has always been the same: create conversations that matter.

This feature explores a question that’s been circulating all over social media and in everyday conversations:

Is dating in Birmingham getting harder?

To answer that question, I spent time talking with members of our community, relationship professionals, and people with different perspectives and experiences. I wanted this story to reflect real conversations happening right here in Birmingham, not just opinions, but thoughtful dialogue that encourages us to think differently about dating, relationships, and connection.

Here are four reasons I think you should read it:

1. It’s a conversation Birmingham is already having.
From dating apps to intentional dating, this topic affects so many people. Whether you’re single, dating, engaged, married, or simply curious, there’s something in this story that will resonate.

2. It offers different perspectives.
Rather than focusing on one opinion, this feature brings together multiple voices from our community to paint a broader picture of today’s dating landscape.

3. It might challenge the way you think.
Some of the perspectives shared may affirm what you’ve been feeling, while others may encourage you to see dating—and relationships—from a different point of view.

4. It leaves room for hope.
One of the biggest things I walked away with after reporting this story is that meaningful relationships still exist. Despite the challenges, there are people who still believe in genuine connection, intentionality, and love.
